MORE than 800 fans of TV show I’d Do Anything gathered at the Sage Gateshead yesterday to get singing tuition and perform with three of the show’s eliminated Nancys.<\/p>\n

The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra hosted the event, which ended with a performance of five songs from various West End shows.<\/p>\n

As well as wannabe Nancys Ashley Russell, Sarah Lark and Niamh Perry, ex-Eastenders and Holby City actor Michael French was there to sing along and there were singing experts from the BBC to help with the teaching.<\/p>\n

Lorna Lea, of Moor Park Court, North Shields, was there with her two daughters Fran and Phoebe, aged seven and 11.<\/p>\n

She said: “We all love the show so much that we thought we would come down for the day. It’s been such fun for everyone and the kids have really enjoyed it. I only ever sing when I’m at home on my own but some of the teaching was really good and I feel more confident now.”<\/p>\n

Ashley Russell was on hand to offer advice to the novice singers.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old from Falkirk in Scotland, told The Journal: “It’s been great fun today, everyone has improved amazingly from when we first started this morning.”<\/p>\n

Michael French, 42, said: “I just love musicals, I performed in them when I first started acting and it’s something I would consider doing again. Everyone was great today, they did really well.” <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
